Italian wine is highly acclaimed by both the public and the critics, as evidenced by the results of the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 2024.

Italy, in the European panorama, is the best represented with 20 references in the ranking (14 from Tuscany), of these 2 are part of the wineries portfolio of Edoardo Freddi International- leading company in the export of Italian wine abroad. The companies in the chart are Michele Satta (18th place with “Piastraia” Bolgheri Superiore 2021) and La Fiorita (19th place with “Brunello di Montalcino” 2019).

The Michele Satta’s company is located in Castagneto Carducci in Bolgheri DOC. “Piastraia” is a Bordeaux blend with the addition of Sangiovese and Syrah that refines for 24 months in French oak barrels. The Piastraia’s vineyard is more than 30 years old.

The 2019 Brunello by La Fiorita is a pure representation of the potential that Sangiovese can reach in this appellation. It refines 36 months in French barriques and 4 months in cement.
