The value of Italian wine’s export is growing slightly (+4.5% over 2023) and it is expected to exceed the threshold of 8 billion euros in 2024. 2023 closed at 7.7 billion euros, just below the previous year (-0.8%). Slight decline in the domestic market (-3% on 2023) which is unlikely to recover, despite the upcoming holidays.
In terms of purchases of Italian still wines, the US and Canadian markets are recording positive trends. Much larger growth for sparkling wines in Australia, France, the UK, and the ever-present USA and Canada.
As highlighted, still and sparkling wines have registered the biggest drops in sales, even worse situation if we consider the e-commerce. On the other hand, the sparkling wines continue the positive trend started in the past months, registering growth in all sales channels.
The consumption is mainly focused on generic sparkling wines, cheaper than Doc and Docg.
