Prosecco is the protagonist of the growth in sparkling wines in 2024. It recorded good performances together with Alta Langa and Asti Spumante.

The Consorzio dell’Alta Langa Docg has 85 wineries, 455 hectares of vineyards divided between the municipalities of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria that have produced 3.2 million bottles this year. The market is so divided: 85% internally and 15% abroad. The overall sales increased by 10% compared to 2023.

Asti Spumante and Moscato d’Asti, two other important Piedmontese denominations, exceed 90 million bottles produced, in line with 2023.

Moscato d’Asti had a very rapid rise of 33 million bottlings in 2024, thanks to the increasing demand from the USA and the increase in consumption in the Far East (Korea and China). Exports of Asti Spumante slightly decreased (-0.8% in the first 9 months of 2024) but the shipments to Eastern Europe (Latvia +5% and Russia +49% on 2023) and the UK (+10% on 2023) are growing.

Those are great results for the Asti Docg area that covers about 10,000 hectares, has 1,013 members. and exports about 90% of total production.
